The Studio

RAVEL Architecture is an Austin-based practice working across residential architecture, development, and design strategy. The studio approaches architecture as a highly integrated process shaped by site, construction methodology, materiality, and long-term project value. Its work is grounded in the belief that strong design emerges from a clear understanding of how buildings are assembled, experienced, and inhabited over time.

With backgrounds spanning architecture, construction, development, and project management, the practice brings a pragmatic and process-driven perspective to contemporary residential design. RAVEL’s work emphasizes clarity, restraint, careful detailing, and responsiveness to site conditions, balancing conceptual rigor with the realities of budgeting, permitting, and execution.

Led by partners Alex Finnell and Dan Fields, the studio approaches each project collaboratively, guiding work from early feasibility and concept development through construction documentation and implementation. That experience across disciplines informs a practice that is both design-focused and deeply informed by the technical and strategic realities of building.

Working across custom residences, urban infill projects, and site-responsive residential architecture, RAVEL focuses on creating thoughtful, enduring spaces that are carefully tailored to both client and context.
